Puppies & Kittens, Austell Veterinarians

Puppy Vet in Austell

At Bullard Animal Hospital, we offer puppy classes to encourage obedience, instill basic manners, increase their socialization, and more while helping you to establish a strong and positive bond with your canine companion.

The early months of your puppy's life are a very impressionable time. The right training at this time can make all the difference in your lifelong relationship with your new dog, as well as set the stage for their behavioral expectations.

We will show you how to teach your dog through effective, positive reinforcement and reward-based training methods.

Your Pet’s First Appointment

Puppies should ideally have their first veterinary appointment around six weeks of age, and kittens around eight weeks.

During your initial visit, your pet will receive a comprehensive physical examination in order to assess their overall health, to look for signs of congenital defects and to check them for signs of external parasites.

More About Physical Exams

We will administer deworming medications for hookworms and roundworms as well as the first round of their kitten or puppy vaccinations.

More About Vaccines & Prevention

Finally, for kittens, we will perform a blood test to check for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus.

Follow-up Appointments

Your new puppy or kitten should attend between 3 and 4 veterinary appointments between the ages of 6 and 16 weeks. These visits allow our vets to assess your pet's overall health and to administer vaccines on schedule.
